The Accumulator
Windsor Selected to Pilot
Progressive New Bingo Game
Local Bingo operators and charities are uniting to launch a new progressive bingo game that they believe will help stimulate more interest in their industry.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (A.G.C.O.) has agreed to allow
Windsor and two other communities to pilot an
Accumulator game
that would
allow for the jackpot to progressively increase if it is not won within the calling of48 numbers. Fort Erie and Sudbury have also been selected.
For several years members of Ontarios bingo industry have lobbied for the introduction of a progressive jackpot type game. Hall operators have argued that they needed a new, local product to stimulate demand with both
existing and more importantly, new and lapsed players. They are also looking to add variety and more excitement to the bingo event.
We are excited that Windsor has been selected to pilot this new game says Bill Marra, Chair of the
Bingo Advisory Committee. He adds, This is hopefully the first of many initiatives that will assist in
levelling the gaming playing field in this highly competitive
market. The Bingo Advisory Committee
is comprised of representatives of local charitable and non-profit organizations and bingo hall owners.
A delegation from the City of Windsor including Marra, recently met with officials from the
A.G.C.O in Toronto to appeal for regulatory changes to the Bingo
industry. These changes include being able to offer player appreciation type initiatives and incentives to patrons.
In agreeing to these pilot projects, the A.G.C.O
indicated that it intends to carefully monitor the projects. Based on the outcome and player response to this new game
it will determine whether or not to allow this type of bingo format to be introduced province wide. |
